Car production to reach 1.5m in a year (Tehran Times, 31 March 2017)
Deputy Industry Minister Mr. Mansour Moazzami has said that Iran manufactured 1.3 million of cars in the past Iranian year (21 March 2016- 20 March 2017) and targets to push the figure up to 1.5 million cars by the end of this year (March 2018). Producing more than one million automobiles in 2016, Iran could rank first among the world countries regarding the growth in its car production, according to the report released by the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) in early March 2017.
South Korea’s import of Iranian non-oil goods skyrocketed (Tehran Times, 01 April 2017)
South Korea’s import of non-oil goods from Iran rose by 230% in the previous Iranian year (21 March 2016-20 March 2017), according to the Iran Customs Administration. Iran exported US$ 2.87 billion of non-oil goods to South Korea during the past year, compared with US$ 870 million in its preceding year, Tasnim news agency reported on Saturday. Next to China, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and Turkey, South Korea was the fifth largest importer of Iranian goods, the report added.

Vertolety Rossii signed a contract for Ansat helicopters in Iran (Sputnik, 29 March 2017)
Russian helicopter manufacturer Vertolety Rossii and the Iranian Organization for Industrial Development (IDRO) signed a memorandum of understanding to create a joint venture for the assembly of light helicopters Ka-226, Ansat. Iran needs such a light helicopter model for its civilian agencies.
Iran could make reliable partner for EU (Tehran Times, 30 March 2017)
Iran is able to make a most reliable partner for the European Union in the Middle East region, its Foreign Ministry said on 29 March 2017. Foreign Ministry spokesman Mr. Bahram Qassemi emphasized that Iran has proved to be an independent country that relies on its own people and capacities, enjoys economic and cultural capabilities, and can be trusted for its steadfastness and stabilising rôle. Mr. Qassemi said that political and economic relations between Tehran and the EU had improved as a result of the conclusion of the 2015 nuclear deal and regular consultations between the two sides on a range of issues. He stressed that Iran is capable of fulfilling the economic demands of the EU as it can provide an intact market for investment.
