Iran, Turkey sign Trade Deals worth $100m ( Iran Business News – 7 June 2017)
Iran’s Social Security Investment Company (Shasta) has reportedly signed contracts worth $100 million with Turkish firms for construction projects and modernisation of the Arvandan shipbuilding facilities in Khuzestan province.
The AFP report also says that the deal includes Iranian construction of a $10-million catamaran — a high-speed double-hulled passenger vessel with an aluminum body.
A $15-million agreement with another Turkish company to modernise and develop the Arvandan shipbuilding site was also signed.
The third contract was a $70-million investment in construction of a commercial building in Tehran over four years.
India’s NALCO puts Iran Project on hold (Iran Business News – 7 June 2017)
India’s National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) has put its overseas projects on hold in order to focus on expanding domestic capacity.
The company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) last year to explore the possibility of setting up a joint aluminum smelter in southern Iran.
Chairman Tapan Kumar Chand told Reuters:
“Iran’s proposal is attractive as long as gas prices are attractive, but not much of an indication in that area has come.”
Iran dispatches economic, marketing, investment delegations to Kenya (IRNA – 7 June 2017)
Director General for Common Services Office at Iran Trade Promotion Center Farhad Nouri’s announcement on Tuesday that the Islamic Republic of Iran is to dispatch various economic and trade delegations to Kenya on July 4-7.
Specific geographical location of Kenya in East of Africa and the country’s willingness to broaden economic cooperation with the private as well as state-run organizations in Iran will be of prime importance in broadening such ties, he said.
Saying that one of the aims of the economic delegations to Kenya is finalizing establishment of banking cooperation with Kenya as the entrance gate to east of the African market.
Highlighting Iran’s access to regular shipping line destined to Kenya, he said grounds for Iranian-made products to that market are well-prepared.
Persian Gulf-Black Sea Corridor accord signed (IRNA – 7 June 2017)
An agreement on ways of activating the Persian Gulf-Black Sea Corridor was signed in Tbilisi, Georgia, between heads of railroad companies of Iran, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday after holding talks and exchanging ideas about technical and economic aspects of the project, as well as facilitation of goods transportation.
The agreement was signed by Saeed Mohammadzadeh, Mamuka Bakhtadze, and Javid Gurbanov respectively the heads of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, Georgian Railways and Azerbaijan Railways.
In the meeting held in the Iranian embassy in Tbilisi, Mohammadzadeh said that not only the three mentioned countries but also other countries and companies that use the corridor can gain from it.
Iran, Georgia interested in promoting trade: Envoy (IRNA – 7 June 2017)
Iran is capable of supplying the needs for natural gas, electricity, and all energy sources to Georgia. they are to develop trade between the two countries on mutual interest, says the Iranian Ambassador to Georgia.
“With regard to Tehran and Tbilisi capabilities to promote cooperation in Iran international relation different realms. so the implement joint major plans have been suggested,” said Javad Ghavam Shahidi, the Iranian envoy to Georgia on Tuesday evening in an interview with Georgian media.
“The number of opportunities for cooperation between Iran and Georgia is very high,” he said.“Regarding the production it can be said that Georgia has productive capacities to play a role in Iran-Europe relations,” Ghavam shahidi added.
“Georgia has more than enough water resources and they are perfect for both drinking and agriculture which Iran lacks the second,” he said.
